How women and men should dress for success

These are some ways women and men could dress for success. Dressing for success is good to do for when you go for your job interview. Also if you are going for a high kind of job or a very fancy job you should dress for success for at least the first day. Unless you are told not to dress formally.

Dress for Success

Many people don't understand how important it is to dress professionally when attending an interview. Your resume is your first impression and the way you are dressed when arriving to the interview is your second impression. It is said that 55% of another persons' perception of you is based off how you look. You want to show employers that you take pride in your appearance. You want to show that you're clean, put together, and very presentable.

On a daily basis a job might not require you to dress professionally, however, it is important to do so for an interview. Tips for dressing for success are as follows:
  • Wear professional and conservative clothing
  • Make sure your clothing is clean, pressed and doesn't fit too tight
  • Cover any distractions such as tattoos
  • Make sure your hair is clean and conservative in color and style
  • Remove any facial piercings

One other tip that I think is very important is to take your time getting yourself ready for an interview. For example, a few days before the interview have an idea in your head of what you're going to wear. You might even want to try a couple of outfits on to see how you'll look on the day of the interview. The night before iron what you're going to where. Therefore, when you wake up, you'll have enough time to get yourself ready without having to rush. Good luck!

Networking

Networking is one of the most important factors in the professional world, defined as a way of making connections to get ahead in one's career. Exchange of information and making contacts are one of the key points of networking. Networking can be done at any time or place, such as during business parties, in college with our peers, even social media, and so much more.
Social media has become the most important way of networking in today's world. It has increased the level of communication between people and has built social relations among people with similar interests. Furthermore, theirs two different types of networking in the world of social media.  People  who utilize social media to network by sharing resourceful information, tips, or anything of valuable are called Posters. People who are looking for such information are called seekers.

Instagram is one of the most powerful social media services, many people often use Instagram to engage with people and build massive amount of followers. Often information is shared by the posters and seekers reach out to them through comments, or simply by following them. An example of such networking would be a famous makeup artists account. Makeup artist A would share her techniques through videos, and would connect with other makeup artists. The said makeup artists would often go ahead and share a video of makeup artist A on their Instagram thus creating a relationship between their followers and makeup artist A. As time passes, the followers of makeup artist A would increase bringing in a massive following. The massive following often attract businesses such as makeup companies or modeling agencies thus connecting you with the professional world.

Networking is extremely important, and in one way or another we all have experienced it. Even without the use of social media, we could network. Everyone in our surroundings in way can be used for networking. Our parents, friends, peers, teachers, anyone we connect with in general. Currently the people who can exchange useful information with me to further my career are my friends, as well as my professors. A friend of mine is working in a medical office, and if i desire, with her reference I can apply at the said office. Similarly a psychology professor of mine can help me find an internship which is very important for the field I'm headed in.

What to say? What to do? Here's advice to ace your interview!

A lot of people find interviews very intimidating. It can be nerve wracking to be face to face to someone and answer questions that can either make or break you. Have no fear! Here are some tips that will surely help you to be confident about your next interview.
  •  First and foremost- BE ON TIME FOR YOUR INTERVIEW! This is very important! Your first impression is everything to the hiring manager and he/she won't be too pleased to be waiting for you; especially if they have other people scheduled to interview that same day. Remember this: to be on time is to be late, but to be a little early is to be on time. For example, if your interview is scheduled for 1:00 p.m, don't arrive at 1:00 p.m on the dot. Arrive at least 15 minutes earlier to get yourself together, go over your resume, and familiarize yourself with the place if possible.

  • BE PLEASANT. That doesn't mean to have a big ole grin on your face, but don't look as if you sucked on a lemon.

  • RESEARCH the company, position, and head manager or whoever else is the top boss of the location. You should know as much about the job and position as possible. You might even gain some points with the person interviewing you if you drop some tidbits of info here and there in your conversation. It shows them that you took your time to look into the company and that you care about the job.

  • DRESS FOR SUCCESS. Don't wear a crumpled T-shirt and jeans but also don't go in a sparkling gown or tuxedo. When in doubt dress business casual.

  • REVIEW common interview questions and prepare your responses. If you're asked "Why do you want this job?", its not such a wise idea to say that you're broke and this was the only job which didn't require too much work. Being honest is nice, but being that honest can be a disaster.  Make your answers personal, but not too personal.

  • BE AWARE of your body language. Look engaged and interested. Sit up straight, don't cross or fold your arms, and try not to fidget. hold your head up, hold eye contact and actively listen.

  • LAST but not least, be sure to thank the interviewer for their time. Being gracious may give you a boost and it's the polite thing to do.

What Should a Man Wear for an Interview?

There are many aspects of getting a job; for instance, we all should dress properly for the job. There are proper clothes for women and men as well.

According to many of websites, experts state that the dress should be conservative. What does this mean for men? Men should have suit, tie, black or brown shoes, and try to avoid shiny colors. The clothes also should be pressed and cleaned, and don't wear perfume.

Cover Letter

The saying "You learn something new everyday" is so true.

The first job opportunity I received was through Summer Youth Employment Program. The program was pretty straight forward. I worked 25 hours a week, which was 5 hours a day and I was compensated for my work bi-weekly on a Visa debit card. I worked in a nursing and rehabilitation center as an Activities Director. One good thing about the Summer Youth Employment Program was it didn't and still doesn't require any work experience. It actually gave me the experience I needed to create a resume. Realize how I only mentioned resume.

It wasn't until now taking this student development class, that I finally know what a cover letter is and what it's used for. The simplest way for me to explain what a cover letter is, is it's your resume put into words. There's a heading, greeting, 3 body paragraphs, a closing, and your signature.

There are three types of cover letters. The application letter, the referral cover letter, and the letter of interest. The application letter is written when you are applying for a specific job opening. The referral cover letter is when you mention the name of someone who has referred you to a job. Last, the letter of interest is written when you are inquiring about possible job openings at a company.

A few things to include in your cover letter are why you want to work for the company, skills you've learned from your past job experiences, and why you think you're a good fit for the position you are applying for. Last, asking for an interview opportunity and also showing appreciation and thanks for the employer taking the time to read your cover letter.

I hope my blog was simple and easy for you to understand the importance of a cover letter.

How to write a good cover letter!

                                                      COVER LETTERS

What are Cover Letters? cover letter is a document sent with your resume to provide additional information on your skills and experience. The letter typically provides detailed information on why you are qualified for the job you are applying for. A cover letter typically accompanies each resume you send out.

Why are cover letters important? Cover letters are important because employers typically see resume after resume and it gets very repetitive. Cover letters give you a chance to stand out from the crowd and helps you sell yourself to the employer.

Tips!
  • WRITE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION!
  • Introduce yourself.
  • Write about your accomplishments
  • Write about your skills including other languages you speak.
  • Make sure to proof read.
  • Don't make it too long or too short.
  • Lastly conclude your letter.
