Ways to Prepare for the New Semester

We all know after a long while off from routine and schoolwork, it’s always tough to get back into the groove of things. Here are a few ways you can prepare for the new semester and a fresh start:

·       One of the first aspects of summer is an out of whack sleep routine. It’s crucial to start fixing your sleep schedule early. Use alarms to remind you to get into bed early and more alarms to wake up early and get back into the routine of things.

·       Clear out all your previous semester books and notes and buy yourself new ones. For some, buying new things is refreshing and can help in clearing your mind for a new semester.

·       Check and read over your syllabi and order the books/material that are needed.

·        If you’re taking post requisites or classes that had prerequisites, you should look over your notes and the material you learned from the previous semester. This can help give you a head start and it’s a good way to refresh your memory on what you learned in the past semester.

·       Same goes for new material: it would benefit you to briefly look through the new books/material needed for your new classes. This can give you a head start in understanding what will be taught.

·       Check for emails: some professors may send assignments/information pertaining to class early. It’s good to keep a lookout and be on top of it.

·       Practice your commute: you want to make sure you know how long it takes to get to school and that you’re not late on your first day back and to be sure of where you need to go.
