Amazing Article

Blog 3 My opinion about this article is that it will help you in planning your future. The part that reached me the most is this. “Fight the Fear: If creating a vision is so simple, why don’t more people do it? “People are lost and afraid now, and they’re scared to say what they want because they’re afraid of not getting it,” Brown Volksman says. “When it comes to vision, sometimes people won’t even say what they want unless they know they will get there or how to get there. But you have to create what you want first and then live into it.   It’s like a declaration. It takes courage—and a bit of faith” When people know what they want they sometimes usually won’t admit it because they do not to how to achieve or how to get to that goal and that creates fear. In order to stand up to this you will have to have courage and either follow a path that has already been created for you or create your own.   A person has to do the research, gain knowledge and face this fear. ...

Career Exploration

Blog 2 Career Exploration is not as hard as it seems.   After taking the course Career Counseling, finding information about my career was like a cool summer breeze. This course provides you with all the tools you need from websites, internships, and networking to find out all the information you want about your career. These sites are extremely helpful. They give you the requirements, salary, colleges, and skills that you need for your career. Please and I say please (without being rude in any way) do not be narrow minded in your career opportunities instead be open to other careers as well and most of all choose a career that you would be happy in.   According to answers .com “About 80% of students change their major at least once.   On average students may change their major three times throughout their College Career. ”

3 Keys For Freshman

Blog 1 For incoming students I recommend these three key resources: 1.         Freshman Services because they set everything up for you.   Your major, classes, and tell you what to do step by step and where to go. 2.       After your first semester you have to see an advisor.   I want to rewrite this sentence for your benefit. You have to see an ADVISOR.   3.       Last but not least the career office. Sadly I found out about this office in my third and last year in this college.   a.       Advice: This office has a staff of very kind and helping people. They are there to answer any and all of your questions. From what career you want to go in, internships, finding a job and more. I wish I knew about this office when I was a freshman. Having this knowledge would have saved me a lot of time. For instance you can get your Associates degree in 1.5 years ...

Informational Interview with Civil and Criminal Defense Lawyer

I conducted an informational interview with a Civil and Criminal defense lawyer in New York City. He has been associated with this profession since twenty five years. He spends most of his time dealing cases in Kings County.   ·                      What types of criminal defense matters do you handle? The first case that I dealt in court was an arson case. On average, I handle about 2 homicide cases per year. Most common cases are drug cases and white collar crime . I have also handled thousands of DUIs (Driving under the Influence) and a handful of sex crimes over the years. I handle both misdemeanors and felonies. ·                      Can you tell me about a typical day on the job? There is no such thing as an average day for an attorney, you might spend whole day...

What's SD11 Class About?

Since taking SD 11, what have you learned about yourself and your career? Before taking SD 11 class I just had a vague idea about the career I wanted to pursue which was management in Criminal Justice. I was not sure about the procedure to land in a professional field or how to access resources which can be very useful to get the job I am interested in. It’s only after taking this class I had an opportunity to explore resources such as self inventory exercise and other websites that give a profound knowledge and specific statistics about the job I want to achieve. Peer discussion and review was another great idea practiced in the class to augment confidence and explore other professions. This class has helped me to be more honest about my weakness and strengths academically and professionally . This class is a great fun way to improve your professional skill and be more realistic about job market. During this class I came across the poss...
