The Interview

I interviewed a family member of mine, who is a marketing intern in U.S Trendy, a fashion website. She's familiar with many of the positions of the company. When asked what a marketing director does, she replied that they oversee a company marketing strategy. Basically they're responsible of coming up with and deciding on a plan that will successfully distribute the product. In order to become a director, one would have to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business or communications. It is also  recommended to consider pursuing a masters because the competition can be very tight. When it comes to experience, it's also important to work in the marketing field for some time, because one doesn't get hired as a director right away. Getting hired as an assistant or an executive will help get the foot in the door. Before becoming a director, it is ideal to get a position as an executive. An executive oversees the company's product and is in charge of analyzing the target market. They do so by considering factors such as gender, age, location. For the most part, they conduct surveys. These surveys can be done over the phone, mail, internet, or in person.

In New York City an executive can have a starting salary as $50,000 and as a director one came make $70,000 or higher.
