Interview Must Know! By Mindy Yang

Interview Must Know!
By Mindy Yang

Once you land an interview with a hiring company, it can both be nerve wrecking and exciting. Here are some do’s and don'ts for your next successful interview!

  1.  Be confident in yourself. Whether you believe it or not, how you feel within subconsciously displays itself to person interviewing you. When answering questions, speaking in the right tone and volume will enhance your answers. By being confident in your answers, you will decrease your chances of using fragment words, such as “um” or “like,” which can cause you to seem nervous and unsure of your answers.
  2. While physical appearance does not matter for an interview, the way you present yourself does. You want to show your potential employer that you are professional and are ready for the job at hand. Dressing casually and looking sloppy are all traits that are undesirable from any company. Be sure to have a good nights rest before the interview so that you are rested. Professional wear such as a suit or dress pants should be ironed. Hair and nails should be kept in a neat fashion to prevent the interviewer from becoming distracted.
  3. Practice makes perfect! If you have ever been part of a job interview, there are many common questions that many companies use. Use this to your advantage and develop strong answers that can help you stand out from all the other interviewees. Recite these answers to yourself in the mirror, or with loved ones.
  4.   Knowledge is power. Researching the company you are interviewing for is extremely beneficial. It allows you to show the interviewer that you are serious and well informed about the job. By having background information, you can input ideas on how you can be a positive asset to the company. Not many people go through this extra step, so take this opportunity to shine amongst the others.

After restless nights of worrying, you finally get a call saying they would love to have you come in for an interview: now what? First, don't panic ! Finding an appropriate outfit can be intimidating, but with the help of Google it is possible. Second, the outfit you should wear is based on what type of position you are going for or what your potential company is. When in doubt of what to wear, go with business casual! Here are a few images of what business casual and professional ou...

It existed throughout the years, trying to advocate for equality amongst individuals regardless of their race, sex, or religion. Thi helps foster respect and equality in every sector of the society, ensuring that as long as a person is a citizen of the United States, they are allowed to receive the same benefits as others. In the workplace, DEI is very essential as it ensures that people are hired based on the fact that they meet the qualifications of the position they applied for, and not discriminated against by not qualifying them for unknown reasons even if they reach all other qualifications. Below are a few important reasons for DEI in the workplace:  1.
