Interview Do's and Do Not's



Do:
  • Dress professionally 
  •  Arrive at the interview location 10 – 15 minutes early
  • Give a firm handshake and keep eye contact

  • Come with multiple copies of your resume, cover letter, and portfolio if necessary
  • Prepare answers to common questions beforehand
  • Questions are likely to include:
    1. Tell me about yourself.
    2.   What is your greatest strength? Weakness?
    3.  Tell me about a challenge you have overcome.
    4. Why should we hire you?
  •   Answer all questions in relation to a work environment
  • Keep answers concise and to the point
  • Do research about the company and job you are applying for
  •  Look on their website and familiarize yourself with the company
  •  Prepare questions for the interviewer
  •  Thank the interviewer for their time
  •  Ask for a business card
  •  Follow up with a thank you letter


Do Not:

  • Answer questions with unprofessional personal stories 
  •  Ask about salary or benefits 
  •  Have your phone on or out
