How to Become a Police Officer:
Police officers work to protect people, arrest suspect, respond to calls for service.

Schooling/Training:
High school diploma or college degree,  police and detectives have to graduate from their agency’s training academy before completing a period of on-the-job training.

Pay:
They will start you with $33,840 a year.

Job Outlook:
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook at www.bls.gov/oco, in 2010, there were 794,300 jobs for police officers and detectives. The expected number of jobs in 2020 will increase to 853,100.  This shows us that there will be more jobs available in 2020.
