Mental Health.(OMH and MHA-NYC)

The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) currently has a high demand statewide for employees in a number of occupational categories. The job availability is set to be 41 percent higher, which is far above the average growth rate for most occupations.

The pay for a licensed social worker is anywhere between $51,268 to $72,076. Additional compensation may be available in some locations, and an increased starting salary may be offered based on a person's education and/or experience. 

There are usually current openings in this mental health fieeld, and tests are offered to see where a person best fits in this field and working environment. A master's degree is needed to become licensed. 

A company based in NY "MHA-NYC", offers events, workshops and presentations to offer advice and to help students and adults  The group usually assists in mental health and substance abuse and is currently hiring in many different positions. Some include peer counselor, Crisis counselor, program director.
